The 2021-22 Harris Theater Presents season opens with Sam Trump’s Interplay, a free, outdoor event for all ages on the HT Rooftop overlooking Millennium Park. Curated in partnership with composer, trumpet player and multiinstrumentalist Sam Trump, the event will feature creative voices from throughout Chicago, spanning generations and genres – from venerated jazz vocalists Dee Alexander and Maggie Brown, to the transformative poetry and movement of youth-driven Kuumba Lynx, to Sam Trump’s own band Soul Vortex, and more. Family-friendly activities, storytelling, and featured makers and vendors will add to the interactive, inclusive atmosphere. Interplay will be the Harris Theater’s first in-person ticketed performance since March 2020: a moment to welcome audiences back, to celebrate the joy of live performance, and to reconnect – and play – with one other.
